Person Centred Therapy
Person-centred therapy, originally called client-centred therapy, was founded by Carl Rogers in the 1940's. Person-centred therapy encourages the client to guide their own treatment and believes that clients can work out the resolution to their problems with support. Rogers strongly believed that the therapist-client relationship has a significant influence on the quality of therapy: he felt that effective therapists must be genuine, accepting, and empathic.
I strive to provide a genuine, open, honest environment and to care for my clients unconditionally, even if I do not always agree with him or her. My goal is to show a deep understanding of my client's thoughts, ideas, experiences, and feelings.
I support my clients to trust in themselves and to use this trust to build their self confidence in resolving their problems. I believe that good mental health requires a balance between the ideal self and real self. We all need to somehow reconcile who we wish we were and who we actually are.
